While the workshop assembled a highly qualified group of experts, many details were left unresolved. Prior to major initiatives being undertaken, it will be necessary to engage in short near-term studies to sharpen the findings of this report. These studies are necessary to better understand the balance of resources required by the applications to use such systems and to establish a more precise prediction of technology trends for the next decade and a half.
