The results of the Architecture Working Group provide a basis for establishing directions toward PetaFLOPS computing. However, the findings are tentative and predicated on a number of assumptions. Before these findings influence significant future investment, they should be refined and validated through further study in the near term. Several short-term initiatives should be undertaken to resolve the open questions and address the sources of uncertainty.
