A separate although related topic is a class of computers that emphasizes memory more than performance. Many information management applications of the future may be more dependent on availability of main memory than on peak performance. This is really a different class of computer than the PetaFLOPS computer which is the focus of this workshop. But it is a conclusion of the workshop that memory intensive systems will play a significant role.
