The current SIA-provided technology projections extend only to the year 2007, and it was only through extrapolation that the characteristics of the needed technologies were assumed. Investment in further semiconductor/technology projections is needed to improve confidence in the timely availablity of the necessary devices. This requires that the SIA study be extended to the year 2014.
