Dear Geoffrey/Terri,

Due to a work overload, I'm submitting you my refereeing report into
paper C407 (Concurrent Programming in VISO, by Muhammed Al-Mulhem) by
email (and slightly late); I trust this will be better for you to
extract the appropriate sections.

paper C407 (Concurrent Programming in VISO, by Muhammed Al-Mulhem)

referee: David Lecomber
	Oxford University Computing Laboratory.

C:

Overall.. publish it -- it falls betwixt the (1) publish as is and
(2) accepted provided changes are made. The changes are minor.

D: (for Editor)

This is a good paper showing work in progress on a visual programming
environment for OCCAM.

E: (for Author and Editor)

The paper explains a system for visual-style programming of OCCAM;
it's an interesting idea. I don't know how many people are still
working with OCCAM, but this should be interesting nonetheless.
As this deals with an application, there is very little feedback that
can be given about the academic/formal backgrounds. Most of the
formal work appears in papers that are referenced by this article.
I would suggest adding references to other more established treatments
of semantics than those produced purely by the author -- or alternatively
these could be omitted entirely and the reader can be directed to (say)
the OCCAM manual?! Perhaps a small section briefly introducing
the syntax of OCCAM would help the reader also; whilst I am familiar
with the language, I don't know how many other readers are.

F: (Presentation Changes)

A screen shot should appear earlier in the document (or be referred to
earlier). Currently the reader is left guessing for a while what the
environment is like.

Grammatical changes: The paper must be read by a native speaker --
although the standard of English vocabulary is above average, there
are a lot of small mistakes. In particular plurals are often wrong, and
some common colourful phrases are just not used correctly -- ie.
"fully fledge" is used, yet this word only really exists as "fully
fledged". My advice would be to miss out such phrases as they
don't add much -- stick to simple phrases instead!
